Kiba — Terms of Service

By using Kiba, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app.

1. What Kiba is

Kiba scans pet food products and scores how well they match a profile you create for your dog or cat. Scores are generated by an automated system from published ingredient lists, guaranteed analysis panels, and public nutritional standards.

2. Kiba is not veterinary advice

This is the most important term here.

Kiba is an informational tool. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition, and it is not a substitute for professional veterinary care.

• Scores describe how a product's composition compares to published standards and to the profile you entered. They are not a medical opinion about your animal.
• Do not use Kiba to decide whether your pet needs treatment, to delay seeing a veterinarian, or to change a therapeutic diet your veterinarian prescribed.
• If your pet is sick, injured, or you suspect a problem, contact your veterinarian immediately.

Veterinary therapeutic diets are deliberately not scored, because their appropriateness is a clinical decision.

3. Accuracy, and the limits of it

We work to keep product data accurate, but we do not guarantee it. Ingredient lists change, manufacturers reformulate without notice, retailer listings contain errors, and label photographs can be misread by automated text recognition.

Always read the physical label on the product you are buying. The label is authoritative; Kiba is not.

Recall information is drawn from public FDA announcements and may lag or be incomplete. It is not a substitute for the manufacturer's or FDA's own notices.

4. Your account and your content

Kiba signs you in anonymously; there is no username or password. You are responsible for what you enter and submit.

If you submit content to community features — recipes, product contributions, photos — you confirm you have the right to share it, and you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display and distribute it within the app. You keep ownership of what you submit.

We may remove or decline any submission, and we may remove content that is inaccurate, unsafe, infringing, or off-topic. Recipes are screened automatically for ingredients known to be toxic to pets, but screening is not a safety guarantee — you are responsible for what you feed your animal.

Do not submit anything unlawful, misleading, abusive, or infringing, do not attempt to interfere with or gain unauthorized access to the service, and do not scrape or bulk-extract the catalog.

5. Subscriptions

Some features require a paid subscription. Purchases are processed by Apple and billed to your Apple ID.

• Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• Manage or cancel in your Apple ID settings. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
• Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. We cannot issue refunds for Apple purchases.
• Prices may change; changes will not apply to a period you have already paid for.

6. Disclaimer of warranties

Kiba is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that scores or product data will be accurate or complete.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your reliance on scores, product data, recall information, or any other content in the app — including any harm to an animal.

Our total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or USD $50.

Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations; where that is the case, they apply to the fullest extent permitted.

8. Changes to the service and these terms

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service. We may update these terms; the date at the top will change, and continued use after an update means you accept it.

9. Termination

You may stop using Kiba at any time by deleting the app. We may suspend access for violations of these terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Kings County, New York.
