Kiba — Terms of Service

By using Kiba, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app.

1. What Kiba is

Kiba scans pet food products and scores how well they match a profile you create for your dog or cat. Scores are generated by an automated system from published ingredient lists, guaranteed analysis panels, and public nutritional standards. Scores are suitability estimates for that profile. They do not constitute absolute product quality or safety ratings, nor are they an assessment of regulatory compliance.

2. Kiba is not veterinary advice

This is the most important term here.

Kiba is an informational tool. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition, and it is not a substitute for professional veterinary care.

Veterinary therapeutic diets are deliberately not scored, because their appropriateness is a clinical decision.

3. Accuracy, and the limits of it

We work to keep product data accurate, but we do not guarantee it. Ingredient lists change, manufacturers reformulate without notice, retailer listings contain errors, and label photographs can be misread by automated text recognition.

Always read the physical label on the product you are buying. The label is authoritative; Kiba is not.

Recall information is drawn from public FDA announcements and may lag or be incomplete. It is not a substitute for the manufacturer's or FDA's own notices.

4. Your account and your content

Kiba signs you in anonymously; there is no username or password. You are responsible for what you enter and submit.

If you submit content to community features — recipes, product contributions, photos — you confirm you have the right to share it, and you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display and distribute it within the app. You keep ownership of what you submit.

We may remove or decline any submission, and we may remove content that is inaccurate, unsafe, infringing, or off-topic. Recipes are screened automatically for ingredients known to be toxic to pets and reviewed by Kiba before they appear, but screening is not a safety guarantee — you are responsible for what you feed your animal.

Do not submit anything unlawful, misleading, abusive, or infringing, do not attempt to interfere with or gain unauthorized access to the service, and do not scrape or bulk-extract the catalog.

Zero tolerance for objectionable content. Kiba does not tolerate objectionable content or abusive users. You can report a product or submission from any product result in the app (the ⋯ menu → Flag this score, or Report issue) or by emailing support@kibascan.com. We act on reports within 24 hours: we remove content that breaks these terms, and we may disable the account that submitted it. In Kiba Kitchen, you can report a recipe from its page (the ⋯ menu → Report this recipe); we remove recipes that break these terms and may stop their author from sharing recipes. You can also hide a cook's recipes from your own Kitchen.

5. Premium membership and purchases

Some Kiba features require Premium membership. Saver and Supporter are annual subscriptions. Supporter is an optional higher contribution for the same Premium features. Lifetime provides the same Premium access through a one-time purchase with no scheduled expiration and no renewals.

The price and billing interval for each choice appear in the app before you purchase. Apple processes App Store purchases and charges your Apple account. An annual subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before its current period ends. You can manage or cancel renewal in your Apple account's subscription settings. Removing the app does not cancel a subscription.

Buying Lifetime does not cancel an existing subscription. If you have an annual or another recurring Kiba subscription, you must turn off its renewal through Apple to avoid future subscription charges. Lifetime itself does not require further membership payments.

You can use Restore Purchases in Kiba to restore eligible purchases made with the same Apple account. Restoring a purchase does not restore pet profiles or other app data lost after reinstalling, and does not establish access on another store or platform.

Apple handles refunds for App Store purchases under its policies. If Apple refunds or revokes a purchase, the Premium access supplied by that purchase may end. Canceling an annual subscription's renewal does not by itself remove access before the paid period ends.

Prices and membership offers may change for future purchases. A later price or membership change will not shorten a period already paid for, add an expiration or renewal charge to a valid Lifetime purchase, or require a Lifetime purchaser to buy the Premium access promised with that purchase again. Access remains subject to these terms, including the rules on misuse in §9.

6. Disclaimer of warranties

Kiba is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that scores or product data will be accurate or complete.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your reliance on scores, product data, recall information, or any other content in the app — including any harm to an animal.

Our total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or USD $50.

Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations; where that is the case, they apply to the fullest extent permitted.

8. Changes to the service and these terms

Subject to the Premium membership commitments in §5, we may change, suspend, or discontinue parts of the service. We may update these terms; the date at the top will change, and continued use after an update means you accept it.

9. Termination

You may stop using Kiba at any time by deleting the app. We may suspend access for violations of these terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Kings County, New York.
